Itinerary Details
Day - 1     Arrival in Delhi

Distant India Journeys representatives will receive you on arrival at the airport in Delhi and transfer to the hotel.

Day - 2     Delhi

Start a full day sightseeing of Delhi.

A sightseeing tour of Old Delhi would entail visiting the Raj Ghat   - the memorial site where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated; Jama Masjid - the largest mosque in India and the Red Fort - once the most opulent fort and palace of the Mughal Empire.

Enjoy the cycle rickshaw ride from Jama Masjid to Chandni Chowk.

An extensive sightseeing tour of New Delhi would include a visit to the Humayun’s Tomb, the Qutub Minar, a drive along the ceremonial avenue - Rajpath, past the imposing India Gate, Parliament House, the President’s Residence, and Lotus Temple and would end with a drive through the Diplomatic Enclave.

Overnight will be in Delhi.

Day - 3     Delhi – Mukundgarh by surface

After breakfast drive to Mukundgarh. On arrival, check into your hotel Mukundgarh Fort.

Mukundgarh Fort located in Shekhawati region of Rajasthan, was constructed during the early 18th century by a local Rajput ruler, Raja Mukund Singh. The entire fort is spread over a land area of 2 acres and is a massive fortress that reflects the ancient charm and glory of the ancient Rajputs. It is a storehouse of antique furniture and wall paintings and is known for its captivating courtyards, halls, balconies and arches. Apart from all the facilities that this lovely heritage hotel offers there is a shopping arcade, a swimming pool and other facilities for recreation. There is a lovely handicrafts market in Mukundgarh that you may visit. 

Overnight will be in Mukundgarh.

Day - 4     Mukundgarh – Mandawa by surface

After breakfast proceed for Mandawa and visit the painted havelis.

The Painted Havelis of the region are called The Open air art Galleries. The region is unique as nowhere in the world there is such a profusion of exquisite wall paintings. You can walk in the local market to see the village life closely.

Return to your hotel and relax.

Overnight will be in Mandawa.

Day - 5     Mandawa – Bikaner by surface

After breakfast drive to Bikaner. Reach Bikaner by lunch time and see the Junagadh Fort, a royal museum that encompasses history of Bikaner from its days of construction that dates back to the 16th century.

Later visit the camel breeding farm, a unique experience. In the evening walk along the busy market area of Bikaner city centre.

Overnight will be in Bikaner.

Day - 6     Bikaner – Khimsar by surface 160km/4hrs

After breakfast drive to Khimsar enroute visiting Deshnok. Deshnok is the temple of Shri Karni Mata famous all over the world as “Rat Temple”.

A normal human being will be absolutely scared over the thought, of the number of rats that are in the temple. However, the outstanding fact is that, these Rats are harmless and play around in the temple without disturbing the devotees. Rather they sit on devotees’ laps, shoulders, hands and head which the devotees think to be of divine spirit and blessings of the Goddess.

Later visit the Nagaur Fort. The Nagaur is famous for the second largest cattle fair in India held every year during the Hindu month of Magh (Jan-Feb) whose basic purpose is cattle trading.

Continue drive to Khimsar. On arrival, check into your hotel Khimsar Fort.

Overnight will be in Khimsar.

Day - 7     Khimsar

Thar Desert is one of the main attractions in Khimsar. This afternoon excursion to Khimsar Dunes village and enjoy a camel safari visit nearby hutments to witness the lifestyles of rural folk. Enjoy a sunset tea or bonfire dinner.

Day - 8     Khimsar – Jodhpur by surface

After breakfast drive to Jodhpur. On arrival, check into your hotel and get ready for the city sightseeing.

Visit the Mehrangarh Fort situated on a low sandstone hill. Within the fort visit Moti- Mahal and Phool Mahal. Also visit Jaswant Thada, an imposing marble cenotaph built in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh in 1899 and the Umaid Public Gardens.

Return to your hotel and relax.

Overnight will be in Jodhpur.

Day - 9     Jodhpur – Sodawas by surface

After breakfast drive to Sodawas. On arrival check into your hotel Karni Kot – A Heritage Hotel.

Karni Kot is managed by the family of Late Thakur Bishan Singhji. Beyond the Kot walls you will encounters breath taking view of lush green fields of mustard and wheat; and in the village, one can see artisans working on the local crafts of the region. You can also request for horse safari, village walk or massage by expert village massagers. 

Overnight will be in Sodawas.

Day - 10     Sodawas – Narlai by surface

After breakfast drive to Narlai. On arrival, check into your hotel Rawla Narlai.

One can go for quiet walks from here and also visit the local bazaar. Close to Narlai is an ancient temple where a miraculous flame has been burning for centuries and giving off saffron instead of black soot. An interesting horse safari or even camel and jeep safaris can be arranged with the hotel.

Overnight will be in Narlai.

Day - 11     Narlai – Ranakpur by surface

After breakfast, Leave Narlai and reach Ranakpur a very big pilgrimage centre for the Jains. Just four hours drive from Udaipur is the eternal Jain pilgrimage centre of Ranakpur. Admire the workmanship from the 16th century. The temples are built out of marble and the main shrine of Adinath with 1444 columns is awe inspiring and none of these are similar. Also see the sun temple and the other temples in the campus.

Overnight will be in Ranakpur.

Day - 12     Ranakpur – Udaipur by surface

After breakfast, continue drive towards Udaipur and on the way stop by the fields to see the local way of farming and irrigation. Walk into the villages to mingle with the locals around to know more about their lifestyle.

Reach Udaipur check into your hotel.

Overnight will be in Udaipur.

Day - 13     Udaipur

Visit the City Palace the richest palace museum in the entire Rajasthan. See the Peacock Square.

Later, see the Sahelion ki Bari where Maharana Sangram Singh build this garden complex with fountains and lakes for his beautiful daughter.

Also visit temples of Nagda and Eklingji.

The temple at Eklingji is a temple that belongs to the Maharana of Mewar (royal family) and he is often there to pray. The temple complex of Nagda is a group of temples of which only two remain intact and those are that of Saas and Bahu. Both the temples, of Shiva and of Vishnu, are from the 7th century.

In the evening we take a lake cruise on the placid waters of Lake Pichhola by sunset and visit the island palace Jagmandir where according to legends the Mughal Emperor Shah Jehan lived and got inspired to build the Taj Mahal later.

Overnight will be in Udaipur.

Day - 14     Udaipur – Deogarh by surface

After breakfast drive to Deogarh. On arrival in Deogarh, check into a Palace (Deogarh Mahal) converted into a hotel.

This hotel was converted into a hotel by the present owner Rawat Nahar Singh. The family is closely associated with the hotel and personally supervises and monitors the on goings.

There are many activities you can indulge in while in Deogarh. You can request for Rural Ramble - a Jeep drive into the countryside with an escort, or romantic horse-carriage ride, a guided walk through the village, boating on the lake, Bird watching (near the lakes) with an expert, relaxing massage by expert Ayurvedic masseurs from Kerala, ride in vintage cars (1962 Jaguar S Type, 1942 GI Jeep, 1938 Chevrolet) or to hire a motorcycle for a trip in the countryside.

Overnight will be in Deogarh.

Day - 15     Deogarh – Roopangarh by surface

After breakfast drive towards Roopangarh en-route visiting the Dargah Khwaja Sahib Ajmer, one of the holiest Muslim shrines in the country. On arrival at Roopangarh check in at hotel Roopangarh Fort.

Explore the Fort with its underground tank, secret passage, jail and other historic buildings. The sunsets when seen from the highest point are spectacular. A heritage walks in the village of Roopangarh, which boasts of one main high street with its crafts, traditions and festivities and explore the innocent spirit of a lesser known India.

Overnight will be in Roopangarh.

Day - 16     Roopangarh – Kuchaman by surface

After breakfast drive to Kuchaman and check in your hotel.

The Kuchaman Fort was converted into a heritage hotel .The Fort's formidable ramparts, innumerable terraces, balconies, and viewing points along with its rich and interesting history, makes it a great holiday destination with a difference. The views are spectacular since the hotel rises some 1000 feet from the entrance with several levels. The view at night of the lit-up city and the Aravalli hills is enchanting. You can visit the Meena Bazaar, within the fort complex, where the Kuchamani folk artists and crafts persons have stalls selling exquisitely made handicrafts. The fort also houses a museum of weapons and armour. A major part of the collection is in gold or silver with floral and geometrical motifs. The hall of the palace houses the beautiful miniature paintings, murals and gilded work.

Day - 17     Kuchaman – Jaipur by surface

After breakfast drive to Jaipur. Jaipur is also called – A Pink city.

On arrival in Jaipur, check into your hotel and relax. Later in the evening, we will take you to Chowki Dhani – An Ethnic village theme Restaurant for the dinner.

Return to your hotel and relax.

Overnight will be in Jaipur.

Day - 18     Jaipur

Proceed for a morning excursion to Amber Fort after breakfast. Elephant ride ascent to the fort.

AMBER FORT PALACE - Amber is the classic romantic Rajasthani fort palace.  Its construction was started by Man Singh I in 1592, and completed by his descendent Jai Singh I.  Its forbidding exterior belies an inner paradise where a beautiful fusion of Mughal and Hindu styles finds its ultimate expression.

Continue sightseeing.

CITY PALACE - A delightful blend of Mughal and traditional Rajasthani architecture, the City Palace sprawls over one-seventh of the area in the walled city.  It houses the Chandra Mahal, Shri Govind Dev Temple and the City Palace Museum.

JANTAR MANTAR - This is the largest and the best preserved of the five observatories built by Jai Singh II in different parts of the country.  This observatory consisting of outsized astronomical instruments is still in use.

HAWA MAHAL - The ornamental facade of this "Palace of Winds" is a prominent landmark in Jaipur.  It is a five-storey structure of sandstone plastered pink encrusted with fine trelliswork and elaborate balconies. The palace has 953 niches and windows. Built in 1799 by Pratap Singh, the Mahal was a royal grandstand for the palace women. In the evening visit a textile block printing factory and the gems cutting and polishing centre.

Overnight will be at Jaipur.

Day - 19     Jaipur – Agra via Fatehpur Sikri by surface

Drive to Fatehpur Sikri after breakfast. The deserted, red Sandstone City, Emperor Akbar built that as his capital and palace in the late 16th century is an exhilarating experience. It a veritable fairytale city and its  "ruins" are in pristine condition...  it's not hard to imagine what the court life must have been like in the days of its grandeur. Also visit the Bulund Darwaza, the largest gateway in the world.

Continue drive to Agra and reach by late afternoon.  Upon arrival proceed for the local bazaar in Agra.

Overnight will be in Agra.

Day - 20     Agra

Two great Mughal monarchs, Akbar and Shah Jahan, transformed the little village of Agra into a befitting second capital of the Mughal Empire - giving it the name Dar-ul-Khilafat {seat of the Emperor}. Today a visitor to Agra is caught up in a world of contrasting edifices, of red sandstone and white marble, narrow galleys and quaint buggies, and that irresistible charm that this favourite city of the Mughals still retains. It is not surprising, that modern Agra still reflects its Mughal heritage most conspicuously.  A walk down the narrow bustling streets of the city will introduce the visitor to the wafting aroma of Mughlai cuisine.

TAJ MAHAL: Little needs to be said about this architectural wonder which is always the soul raison-de-etre for every tourist's visit to Agra. Built by Shah Jahan, the Taj is a white marble memorial to his beautiful wife Mumtaz Mahal. This monument took 22 years to be completed and was designed, and planned by Persian architect Ustad Isa. Apart from its stunning design balance and perfect symmetry, the Taj is also noted particularly for its elegant domes, intricately carved screens and some of the best inlay work ever seen.   

Proceed for visit to the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Itmadullah’s Tomb with English speaking guide. Return to hotel and relax in the evening.

Overnight will be in Agra.

Day - 21     Agra – Delhi (200km/3hrs) – Depart

After breakfast drive towards Delhi.

Upon arrival in Delhi you will be transferred to a local restaurant for a farewell dinner and finally transferred to the international airport for your onward destination.
