The passenger coaches which were originally meant to be the personal railway coaches of the erstwhile rulers of princely states of Rajputana, Gujarat, the Nizam of Hyderabad and the Viceroy of British India. These coaches were not being used by the Indian Railways after independence in normal passenger trains on account of very rich and traditional interiors.

Trip Highlights

    The name "Palace on Wheels" was derived from its royal back-ground of the coaches. A new meter gauge air conditioned Palace-on-Wheels was introduced in 1984 & had 13 Saloons, 2 Restaurant cum Kitchen car, one Bar cum Lounge and 4 Service Cars. In order to further increase the amenities on the train and due to over all gauge conversion in the state, a new broad gauge Palace-on-Wheels has been constructed & has been running since 1996. It's 14 Saloons are inter-connected, the interiors of the saloons reflect the aesthetics of the former Royal states of Rajasthan. The exquisite and exclusive Palace on Wheels has luxurious Cabins, wall to wall carpeting, a well stocked bar, two dining cars (The Maharaja and Maharani) and a very personalized service... in fact, almost everything that could comprise of heaven on earth for seven days!

Day - 1     Wednesday - Delhi / Boarding on Palace on Wheels

Distant India Journeys representatives will take you to Safdarjung Railway station where you will complete some formalities & board the Palace on Wheels in Delhi.

1800hrs          Train will depart for Jaipur

1930hrs          Dinner aboard the royal Palace on Wheels

Overnight on board train in Air-Conditioned Private Cabin.

Day - 2     Thursday – Jaipur / The Pink City

About Jaipur: Founded in 1727 and the former capital of the Kachwaha rulers, Jaipur today is a versatile tourist destination. Famed as the 'Pink City', this capital city of Rajasthan boasts of a rich historical past that is depicted in its forts, palaces, havelis and its colourful bazaars.

1800hrs          Evening tea and other refreshments at the cafeteria of Chittaurgarh Fort accompanied by a beautiful light and sound show.

Day - 4     Saturday – Udaipur / Most Romantic City & also called city of Lakes

About Udaipur:  Also known as the 'City of Lakes' Udaipur is called Rajasthan's most    romantic city because of its picturesque setting, Rajputana palaces and lakes. The erstwhile capital of the Mewar kingdom, Udaipur was founded in 1553 by Maharana Udai Singh II. The city boasts of innumerable tourist attractions.

Day - 5     Sunday – Jaisalmer (The Golden City)

About Jaisalmer: The city of Jaisalmer is very well-known for its Jaisalmer fort. This city has been named after Maharawal Jaisal Singh, a Rajput ruler who had established the city in 1156 AD. The city every year hosts its annual Dessert Festival, which is a major crowd puller.

1930hrs          A royal dinner in the sand dunes accompanied by a colourful cultural program.

2300hrs          Returning back to the train for an onward journey to Jodhpur

Day - 6     Monday – Jodhpur / The Blue City

About Jodhpur: Also known as the 'Sun City' and the 'Blue City', Jodhpur was the erstwhile capital city of the kingdom of Marwar. Now a popular tourist destination, this city is quite famous for its proximity to the Thar Desert and for its magnificent forts. It is dotted with innumerable attractions, worth visiting.

100% of ticket value 29 days prior to departure.

No show/ En route termination of tour/amendment:

# No Show - In case of No Show / Non-arrival of the guest, no refund or adjustment in future travel will be possible. The whole amount shall be treated as forfeited.

# En route termination of tour - In case of termination of tour by the guest, for any reasons, no refund or adjustment for future travel will be possible. The amount for unused portion of the tour shall be treated as forfeited.

# Amendment - Is only possible under the circumstances like Natural Disaster / Natural Calamity or Serious Health Problem's (this needs to be supported by doctor's certificate) and is subject to availability.

# No refunds are possible and every case will be decided on merits on a case to case basis.

# No amendment will be permissible in case of booking of groups or complete train.
