Bharatpur is a city in the Indian state of Rajasthan. Located in the Brij region, Bharatpur was once considered to be an impregnable city and was the capital of the Jat kingdom. Bharatpur is famous for its UNESCO –listed Keoladeo Ghana National Park, a wetland and significant bird sanctuary. Apart from the park, Bharatpur has a few historical vestiges, though it would not be worth making the journey for these alone.
Visit to Bharatpur bird Sanctuary with naturalist on Rickshaw, 01 lunch in local restaurant in Bharatpur0630 hrs: Leave Delhi and drive to Bharatpur (200 kms / 5 hours).
1200 hrs: Arrive Bharatpur; Bharatpur - the town of Bharatpur, about 40 km south of Agra, is renowned for its World Heritage-listed bird sanctuary, the Keoladeo Ghana National Park. Once the hunting estate of the Maharajas of Bharatpur, the 29 sq km piece of marshland with over 360 species, is one of the finest bird sanctuaries in the world.. A handful of Siberian cranes arrive here annually. Commonly seen birds include egrets, ducks, storks, kingfishers, cranes, spoonbills, falcons, etc. There are also animals like deer, hyenas, wildcats, wild boars, and rock pythons.
After lunch proceed for the visit of Keoladeo national Park on rickshaw with English speaking naturalist. Keoladeo Ghana National Park- a paradise for avian world. It was declared a reserve for birds in 1956 and later upgraded to National Park. UNESCO has listed it as World Heritage site. A Rickshaw ride will keep you occupied to witness the flora and fauna of this sanctuary. 50 Specie of fishes and 375 species of birds are found here. A total of 35 species of 7 families of butterflies have also been reported.
After the visit proceed to drive to Delhi.
Arrive Delhi and transferred to the airport to board flight for onward destination.
