India is one of the most rewarding long-haul destinations for British guests—and one of the easiest to get wrong if the route is over-packed. A good plan balances iconic sights, genuine downtime, and hotels you would happily recommend to friends back home.

Visas and entry

UK passport holders generally apply for an India e-Visa (or the appropriate visa category) before travel. Double-check purpose of visit, duration, and number of entries against your flights. If you are combining Nepal or Bhutan, tell us early so permits and routing stay seamless.

When to go

  • October–March: classic Rajasthan, Delhi, Agra, Varanasi, and most cultural routes
  • April–June: hill stations and Himalayan foothills for cooler air
  • July–September: Kerala, Ladakh (where accessible), and regions where monsoon is part of the experience

We will steer you away from routes that look fine on a map but feel exhausting in August heat or monsoon downpours.

Getting there from the UK

Direct and one-stop options into Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru are common from London; regional departures often connect via the Gulf or Europe. Night flights can work well if day one is kept light—museum mornings come later in the trip.

Standards British guests care about

  • Clear inclusions (guides, entrances, meals where promised)
  • 4★/5★ hotels with reliable air conditioning and quiet rooms
  • Private drivers who know hotel entrances and security procedures
  • English-speaking guides who explain context, not scripts

Power adapters: India uses Type C/D/M at 230V—pack a universal adapter. Mobile roaming can be expensive; many guests use a local eSIM for maps and WhatsApp.

Sample two-week shape (not one-size-fits-all)

  1. Delhi and Old Delhi at a humane pace
  2. Agra for the Taj at a time that avoids peak crowds
  3. Jaipur and rural Rajasthan for craft and cuisine
  4. Optional flight south to Kerala for houseboat and coast

Extensions to Nepal (Kathmandu and valleys) or a short Bhutan fly-in work well for guests who want altitude and scenery after the plains.

We plan for guests from London, Edinburgh, Manchester, and across the UK every season. Share your must-sees and comfort level—we will return a day-by-day draft with honest drive times and hotel shortlists.

Plan your trip when you are ready; we are used to UK school holidays and bank-holiday windows.
